With the recession in full swing and cutbacks the word on everyone's lips, pets are being dumped and left for dead. Cruel? Business? Facts of life? ![]() (cc) image by e3000 Dogs are expensive... vaccinations, food, kennels, leads chains, insurance, walks.... dogs can eat up a lot of their owners time and cash. In the UK, RSPCA figures confirm the number of abandoned animals being dumped is rising sharply... there were 3,372 abandoned animals in 2008, compared to 2,009 in 2007 (67% rise). For those of you looking to buy new pets, why not save cash, save some lives and rescue an abandoned pet instead? Or if you can't afford a pet, how about NOT GETTING ONE. |
